Senhor dos Passos da Graça (Stations of the Cross)

Second Sunday of Lent

The procession dates back to 1587 and evokes the passion and death of Jesus Christ. Considered the most emblematic and important of the Lent period, it is organized by the Royal Brotherhood of Santa Cruz e Passos da Graça with the support of the Brotherhood  of Mercy and São Roque of Lisbon.

Since 1910, the procession had its route confined only to Graça, but in 2013 it resumed the “original route”, from the church of São Roque, in Bairro Alto, to the church of Graça, crossing several streets of the city between the hills of São Roque and Graça, stopping next to “seven steps”.

Route:  St. Roque Church - Largo Trindade Coelho - Rua da Misericórdia - Rua Garrett - Rua do Carmo - Rossio - Rua Largo 1º Dezembro - Largo de S. Domingos - Rua D. Antão de Almada - Travessa Nova de S. Domingos - Rua da Palma - Praça Martim Moniz - Calçada dos Cavaleiros - Calçada de Santo André - Church of Graça.
